PART-TIME PAYROLL/ACCOUNTING CLERK

The Payroll/Accounting Clerk will be responsible for processing payroll for LA Opera's costume shop, wardrobe department and wig and make-up department and will assist in other bookkeeping and accounting functions.

The work schedule would be Monday through Wednesday. Compensation is $14.50/ hour.

Qualified candidates will have previous bookkeeping/account experience and be skilled in Excel.

PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, the Public Relations Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of publicity campaigns for LA Opera, its productions and various programs.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Creating press releases and other publicity material
  • Pitching/securing feature stories to the media
  • Coordinating interviews and photo shoots with artists
  • Meeting and greeting the media at opening nights and interviews
  • Managing production photo calls and digital production photo files

The Public Relations Manager will work closely with the Artistic, Production and Marketing staffs.

Qualified candidates should have 3 to 5 years experience in a fast-paced PR office preferable in arts/entertainment; good communication skills; working knowledge of the Los Angeles and national media; basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, database management and some computer graphic ability and flexibility for evening and week-end assignments.

ASSISTANT CUTTER/DRAPER

Los Angeles Opera Costume Shop is seeking an Assistant Cutter/Draper. This is a contract position with a minimum of 36 weeks per year. Salary is $19.86 per hour plus medical, dental and vision benefits. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years experience as an assistant cutter in a large professional shop, or one years experience as a cutter in a small professional shop. Knowledge of principles and practices of the construction of period stage costumes is essential. Must have good time management skills and be able to organize and direct the work of a crew of 6 to 8.

PORGY AND BESS Chorus Auditions

LA Opera is seeking African-American Choristers for its 2006-2007 season production of Porgy and Bess. Rehearsals are scheduled to begin February 17, 2007 with 12 performances taking place between May 4 and May 20, 2007.

Friday, October 20 7:00-10:00pm
Saturday, October 21 3:00-6:00pm
