About LA Opera’s College Outreach Program: OPERA U

Think you know nothing about opera? We bet you do. Some of the hottest Hollywood directors use opera music throughout their films to convey all levels of emotion. Most likely many of your favorite movies included some of opera's great musical moments such as The Godfather, Pretty Woman, and many more. We invite you to experience the thrill of opera with us this season.

Drama, Music and Passion. That's what opera is all about.

The DRAMA of the Spanish Inquisition combined with the struggle between church and state will leave your heart pounding in Verdi's Don Carlo. The thunderous MUSIC of Tannhäuser will thrill audiences as LA Opera's new Music Director James Conlon conducts some of Wagner's most moving melodies. Finally, Massenet's Manon asks the question: would you choose PASSION or wealth as Anna Netrebko sings the title role. LA Opera's 2006/07 Season is truly a year filled with Drama, Music and Passion.
